How to Use Our Online Menu Before You Visit the Dispensary

September 29, 2025

Purchasing cannabis is becoming increasingly convenient. You can even buy products from the comfort of your own home. If you do not want to spend time researching every product once you arrive at your favorite downtown Boston dispensary, you can do so beforehand by using an online menu. The menu reflects the dispensary’s current, fresh offerings, and it provides the information you need to decide which strains and product types best suit your goals.

However, looking at a weed menu can sometimes feel overwhelming. It’s common to pack a lot of detail into such a small space because consumers need to know several important things about a product. If you are feeling confused looking at a cannabis menu, let us walk you through what to look for.

The Components of a Weed Menu

Every weed menu will look slightly different; the dispensary is responsible for creating it according to its product variety and visual identity. There are no strict guidelines for what must be included. However, reputable dispensaries know that certain information is essential for making an informed choice, so you can expect to find the following information.

Categories

At their most basic, menus are broken down into category sections that delineate what types of products are available. This is the area where you will see separate areas for edibles, flower, concentrates, and more, depending on what the dispensary stocks. Sometimes, this stock may rotate, so always double-check the menu to make sure that what you want is available that day.

Bundle deals or singles

In many cases, menus include a section for deals or sales. Some products are better sold in bundles, which will be indicated on the menu as, for example, “3 for $25” or a similar offer. (That means three products for a total of $25, not three for $25 each.)

Products listed in this quantity do not typically need to be purchased as a bundle; you can buy singles if you prefer, but doing so may be more expensive. Bundle deals are likely to rotate frequently, so check back regularly.

Concentration

One of the most important pieces of information on an online menu is each product’s concentration. This is represented by two descriptors: TAC and either THC or CBD.

TAC stands for total active cannabinoids; it represents the total amount of cannabis content that may have an impact on your body. It does not include weights for the roll (in a pre-roll) or the packaging. The TAC percentage should almost always exceed the THC or CBD percentage, as there is more to cannabis than just those compounds. However, for certain products, such as isolate, they may be identical.

The other measurement, THC or CBD, indicates how much of either compound (or both) the product contains. This allows you to make informed choices about a product based on your tolerance levels and goals. Bear in mind that the concentration measurement usually refers to the amount present in the entire package, not a single serving, as people’s idea of a serving size varies.

Strain

The other main component people look for is the product’s strain. This describes exactly which variant of weed went into creating it. Most menus will include both the strain name and a descriptor of its type: hybrid, Indica, or Sativa.

Sativa strains are generally invigorating, providing energy, a head high, and a mood boost. They can make you feel creative, inspired, and focused. Indica, on the other hand, typically leans toward relaxation; you might feel glued to the couch, and many people enjoy Indica for its pain relief properties.

Hybrid strains are a combination of the two. They often provide the focus and clarity of Sativa with the relaxation of Indica, but each strain will behave differently. Knowing this information can help you narrow down your choices and determine exactly what you want to experience before committing to a product.

Additional information

Most menus will include at least some information about the product’s individual details, such as the brand name, serving size, and ingredients. Modern dispensaries may even feature QR codes or hyperlinks that direct you directly to the packaging, allowing you to review the product as if it were in your hands.
